Cofounded by Shaad Shibly and Sidath Samarasinghe in 2009, Infernal is a now defunct heavy/thrash metal band from Kandy, Sri Lanka.
The band's lineup consisted of:
- Shaad Shibly: Frontman, song writer, and lead guitarist
- Sidath Samarasinghe: Rhythm guitarist, song writer, and lyricist
- Dinuka Kodikara: Drums
- Sameera Epitawatte: Bass guitar (2009-2012)
- Geeth Hettiarachchi: Bass guitar (2013-2015)
The band, during their existence, attempted to create their own sound by fusing various elements from genres such as heavy metal, thrash metal, melodic death metal, and metalcore by drawing inspiration from bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Children Of Bodom, Arch Enemy, Kreator, In Flames, Lamb Of God, Trivium, Nevermore, Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead, and Sepultura while their lyrical content tended to address issues such as war, hate, drugs, politics, violence, personal struggles, and religion.
The band released their debut EP titled "Downcast" in 2011 and continued to perform at local concerts along side other prominent bands before mutually deciding to break up due to personal reasons in December, 2015.
