About Geospatial Information Agency of Republic of Indonesia (BIG RI)

Geospatial Information Agency of Republic of Indonesia (Badan Informasi Geospasial (BIG) RI), previously known as Badan Koordinasi Survei dan Pemetaan Nasional (Bakosurtanal), is a Non-Ministerial Government Institution of the Government of Indonesia responsible for carrying out government duties in the field of geospatial information. BIG operates under and reports directly to the President of the Republic of Indonesia. The institution is led by a Chairman, with Muh Aris Marfai currently serving in this position since January 27, 2021, succeeding Hasanuddin Z. Abidin, as appointed by Presidential Decree No. 122/TPA of 2016. In carrying out its duties and functions, BIG is coordinated by the Minister of National Development Planning.
