The #init6 initiative was started by a group of CCIEs who had met through the CCIE Advisory Council and had all been involved in helping to develop the next generation networking certifications that Cisco announced in June 2019. Effectively, we had all seen the future and wanted to help ready our fellow network engineers for the new challenges. #init6 then is the result of a coming together of a group of network experts, all passionate about mentoring and nurturing future generations of networking professionals, with varying levels of experience of automation and programmability, a desire to evolve themselves and to bring others with them, and to share that evolution with the wider community. Our goal is not to train people – we are focussed on
· helping people start and progress their journey;
· giving them the opportunity to share in the collective experience; and
· pointing them toward the resources they need to bring the new world of NetDevOps to their networks.
