With the information that BIDN retrieves and the data exchanges it facilitates, we help municipalities determine eligibility for social benefits. Without this information, municipalities would have to manually assess whether a resident is entitled to benefits such as income support, social assistance, or community care. This is a highly labor-intensive process, which previously led to high administrative costs for municipalities. Now, BIDN collects the necessary information from various institutions and compiles it into information packages. Municipalities then receive only the information they need—for example when there is a change in the circumstances of a welfare recipient. The municipal employee can immediately see whether the change affects the amount or eligibility for a benefit. In the case of the Social Support Act (Wmo) and the Youth Act, it allows them to assess entitlement to care. This saves municipalities a great deal of time and money—time they can now spend providing more intensive support to their residents, for example in finding employment or allocating care.
