About INNOMEM Project

INNOMEM has evolved into a commercial entity while continuing to operate within the framework established by the European project. Coordinated by EMI Twente BV, INNOMEM is backed by five key partners: Fundación Tecnalia Research & Innovation, VITO NV, Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon GmbH, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, and Ciaotech Srl. INNOMEM is dedicated to developing a sustainable Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) to accelerate the deployment and scale-up of innovative nano-enabled membranes and their applications. It provides a comprehensive ecosystem covering various membrane materials—including polymeric, ceramic, metallic, and nanocomposite—as well as surface modifications, membrane morphology, and geometries. At the core of INNOMEM is its Single Entry Point (SEP), designed as a one-stop-shop for businesses in the membrane sector, particularly SMEs. Through this SEP, European companies gain streamlined access to cutting-edge expertise and technologies, enabling them to develop, test, and integrate high-performance, multifunctional, safe, and environmentally friendly nano-enabled membranes. This approach fosters cost-effective and sustainable innovations while facilitating real-world demonstration of advanced nanomembranes in industrial applications at Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL7), thus accelerating market adoption. INNOMEM unites some of Europe's most recognized membrane research institutions as well as specialists in technology transfer, corporate finance, funding, and business coaching. The Test Bed offers: - Access to the most advanced and promising manufacturing pilot lines, - State-of-the-art characterization techniques and modeling, and - A range of non-technical services to support commercialization.
