About Institute of Chemistry & Biology of Membranes and Nano-objects - CBMN
Our organisation : The Institute of Chemistry & Biology of Membranes & Nano-objects (CBMN), is a joint research unit (UMR 5248) of the CNRS, the University of Bordeaux (UB), the National Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux (Bordeaux INP), and Bordeaux Sciences Agro (secondary). 200 people are currently working for the Institute and half of them with a permanent position: 38 Associate Professors, 16 Professors, 17 research fellow, 11 Research Directors, and 24 Engineers. The laboratory premises are located at the University of Bordeaux on the campus of Talence- Pessac- Gradignan, and campus Carreire. A third one is located at the Périgueux IUT. The CBMN Institute is a multidisciplinary research laboratory at the interface between Chemistry, Biology and Physics. It includes 16 research teams, organized in 4 thematic clusters: - The Chemical Biology and Supramolecular Chemistry (CBSC) cluster is focus on chemistry and organic synthesis ; - The Biomedical Research : Fundamental and Translational (BioFAP) cluster is devoted to the understanding of biological mechanisms ; - The Multiscale Biophysics (MSB) cluster is specialized in the implementation of experimental devices for the molecular assemblies characterization ; - The Nutraceutical, Medical and Food Applications of Biomolecules (NMFAB) is dedicated to the biomolecules extraction, their formulation and their scale-up production. Our expertise : Molecular assembly for health and understanding of life sciences. The institute combines fundamental and applied research for a range of activities from the bio-inspired molecular synthesis (peptide, proteins …), to the molecular asembly of biosourced products (encapsulation, formulation), including multi-scale (nm to µm) characterization (biological and physico-chemical) and the study of biological cellular mechanisms. The Institute’s activities cover a wide scope of applications for health (pharmacology, veterinary, biomedical fields), but also for agriculture, agri-food,
