About IRN - The Reuse Network
The Reuse Network arranges reuse of surplus furniture and equipment. We source furniture from organizations that have excess, and get it to folks who have little or none. Every year American schools, companies, colleges and universities discard tens of millions of pieces of usable furniture. Not because it's worn out or broken, but because they're upgrading, replacing, consolidating, downsizing, or decommissioning. There's no resale market for most of these furnishings. Almost all of them end up in a landfill. At the same time, billions (literally) of people worldwide don't have furniture for their homes. Hundreds of millions of children don't have desks or chairs for their schools. The Reuse Network bridges this divide. The story is in our name. We network with schools, school districts, installers, furniture manufacturers and dealers to find and secure inventories of usable furniture that are slated for disposal. That's the "upstream" side. "Downstream", we network with hundreds of nonprofit organizations that place furniture with needy schools and families, in communities that have been ravaged by poverty, war, and natural disaster. We don't take any money for the furniture we provide. That's part of The Reuse Network's commitment. If you have furniture that needs to go away, and want a better solution than a landfill, we hope you'll call. We know folks who can use it. And if you're a nonprofit that can use school or residential furniture to support your mission, we hope you'll call. We know where to find it. Twenty-two years and counting. Millions of pieces of furniture saved from landfills and given a second life. Hundreds of thousands of lives improved by the resources we've provided, in 70 countries around the world, and 47 U.S. states. That's The Reuse Network.
