Integrated Planning and Industrial Building

The department for Integrated Planning and Industrial Building stands for process innovation in the design of buildings, especially in industrial construction. In the national and international context, we are leading experts for Building Information Modelling and integrated, interdisciplinary construction planning methodology. We see ourselves as a bridge-builder between civil engineering and architecture. Our special focus is on strengthening interdisciplinary cooperation, which we represent in numerous fields of the research area. The use of digital technologies - BIM and coupling of simulation and optimization tools - is intended to facilitate interdisciplinary work and increase the quality of planning. This approach is pursued in the research-led curriculum by the interdisciplinary project-based courses offered at TUWien: Integrated BIM Design Lab and Concrete Student Trophy. Coupled with research projects, we explore together with students how the different disciplines cooperate in the early design stages and develop methods for process optimization by using customized digital workflows and tools. In numerous research projects such as: SCI_BIM, BIMaterial, BIM_Chain, BIMFlexi and Wohnen 4.0, new planning methods are being developed which, supported by BIM, enable resource-optimized, efficient planning and construction. We carry out basic research (SFB "Advanced Computational Design") as well as application-oriented research in cooperation with industry and strive to involve students in research projects in order to accelerate innovation in planning practice by younger generations. #BIM #Interdisciplinary #Planning #Industrial Construction #Research #Innovation
