Electronics are a collaboration between opposites. Ones and zeros, on and off, empty and full, conducting and insulating. Even our name is a reflection of that unity from opposition. “Semi” literally means “half,” while “integral” of course suggests “fullness.” Integration born from division.
To that end, we have represented Integral Semi with five holes, some connected, some not. The ambiguity of what they represent is deliberate. Are they vias on a PCB? Or are they the microscopic electron holes at the heart of computing? Yes.
Why five? Good question. Morse code is a binary language, one that represents the whole of language from the opposition of dots and dashes. And It just so happens that I and S (our initials) in that language are written dot dot, dot dot dot.
Even the custom wordmark continues the partial theme, with a series of dots (called “tittles” in typography), some of which are joint with solder, others not. At Integral Semi, the process of integration is iterative, and ongoing, always improving.
