Our EU Horizon funded project IntelliLung has been launched to help optimize ventilation for intensive care patients. The aim is to optimize invasive ventilation of critically ill patients. By using patient clinical data such as physical condition, organ function and respiratory parameters, an AI-based decision support system provides the care team with recommendations for the setting of invasive mechanical ventilation.
The aim is to minimize ventilation time, reduce the length of stay in an intensive care unit and reduce mortality. The decision support system, which has already been developed, is now being tested and expanded in clinical practice including two studies: A retrospective study will use data from former invasive ventilation patients, while a prospective study will collect and analyze current data.
