InTempo

For everyone who wants to reduce stress, “InTempo” is an app & tactile phone case that uses the rhythm and tempo of the music to calm down. InTempo aims to prevent the development of panic attacks and anxieties through non-addictive individual music therapy. It involves synchronizing one's bpm with the bpm of the music tracks and involving several senses—a combination of auditory, tactile, and visual sensations. Workflow: a person listens to his/her favorite music and tries to repeat its rhythm, beating it on a tactile case or the phone screen and an app shows how well it turns out. Playfully, attention shifted from fear and negativity to calming. InTempo consists of an app and a tactile phone case with force sensors inside that are connected to the app and show how well you can repeat the beat of a song. Every design decision for InTempo was based on consultations with musicians, psychologists, and psychotherapists (CBT and EMDR methods) and existing research on the effects of music and rhythm on human physiology. + was initiated based on the author's experience with panic attacks and the experience of her friends/acquaintances with anxiety. The project has received 14 national/international awards so far! The app is available on the Apple Store as a beta version.
