The research group Intensive Swedish leads social innovation projects within the area of school education, in particular education and teaching in multilingual settings. The projects build on close, long-term and mutual collaboration with teachers, head teachers, principals, municipalities as well as with the Swedish National Agency for Education.
Our professional development initiatives take a holistic approach to education and teaching in all school subjects. Students and their progression take centre stage. The joint development work brings about profound changes – both on the team level and the individual level. This approach to development and improvement also stands the test of time. It is about capacity building in schools, and meets current as well as future challenges.
A main, general goal of our work is to improve the learning conditions for young adult new arrivals and multilingual students, such that they get equal opportunities to reach the goals in school. We also strive to increase knowledge about coordinated and visible learning for capacity building in practice among school staff.
