At the Intermountain Healthcare Delivery Institute, we aim to improve quality and reduce the cost of healthcare services by delivering education, providing technical support, generating and disseminating evidence, and conducting research in support of operational and service excellence and process management across the Intermountain Healthcare system and with external partners.
Courses offered by Intermountain Healthcare Delivery Institute are designed to meet the need of health professionals, including executives, quality improvement leaders, and clinicians. Advanced Training program (ATP) and Mini Advanced Training Program (miniATP).
The purpose of the Advanced Training Programs is to give participants the understanding and tools necessary to conduct state-of-the-art clinical practice improvement projects, use quality improvement methods to manage and improve both clinical and non-clinical processes, implement quality improvement programs, and conduct internal quality improvement training. The miniATP and ATP also allows participants the opportunity to join a national/international network that provides ongoing support and information sharing for future collaborations.
The CORE of the course is rooted in the concepts and methods of “The System of Profound Knowledge” as described by W. Edwards Deming and augmented by the values and ethics of the healing professions. As part of the course, and to help with Kirkpatrick Level 4 learning, each participant must select, complete and report an improvement project. Faculty will provide consultation and support for this important hands-on experience. These projects are often starting points for more ambitious endeavors in participants' home departments and institutions.
