A common definition is STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where rigorous academic concepts are coupled with real-world lessons as students apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in contexts that make connections between school, community, work, and the global enterprise enabling the development of STEM literacy and with it the ability to compete in the new economy. The 21st century is an exciting age for innovations and technology advancement. It is also a challenging time for educators, as well as for those who are concerned with education; the challenge is to ensure that students are ready for an ever-changing world and fully capable of becoming tomorrow’s progressive leaders, productive workers, and responsible citizens.
