For optimal treatment outcome of radiotherapy, it is vital that controlled radiation dose is delivered to the tumour cells while exposure to surrounded healthy tissue is minimised. It is challenging to maintain the balance between those two goals when treating some cancers, e.g. lung and breast cancers. One of the challenges to accurately target tumour is due to natural patient movements caused by respiration and heartbeat. ChestPhan-4D can replicate these movements. This allows improved and personalised calibration of treatment methods for specific patients.
