About Research Group for Insect Production and Processing

Research Group for Insect Production and Processing (IP&P) at KU Leuven Campus Geel investigates all scientific aspects of production and processing insects. The research mission of the Research Group IP&P is to combine a wide array of technologies to: (i) generate insights into quality and characteristics of insects as feed and food matrices, as source of biomolecules or as waste converter and (ii) to apply these insights to improve production and processing of insects in the whole insect value chain. Research projects are initiated on request of and in collaboration with companies (bilateral and collective projects) based on specific industrial questions, but also based on new project ideas originating in the group. Our strength is the fact that several disciplines are represented in the group and hence we can handle multidisciplinary research problems.
