About Indigenous People Action on Climate and Resource Advocacy

The Indigenous People Action on Climate and Resource Advocacy (IPACRA) is a grassroots organization based in Northern Kenya with head offices in Isiolo, Kenya. We work closely with the local Somali, Samburu, Rendille, Turkana, and Borana communities to address the unique challenges they face from climate change and environmental degradation. Through community-led initiatives, IPACRA aims to build resilience, promote sustainable resource management, and amplify Indigenous voices in climate activism. Our organization was founded in 2019 by local Indigenous leaders who witnessed firsthand the impacts of drought, water scarcity, and loss of grazing lands on their communities. We are committed to helping these communities adapt to the changing climate while preserving their culture, livelihoods, and connection to the land. IPACRA takes a holistic approach that integrates traditional Indigenous knowledge with innovative solutions to build climate-resilient communities.
