Driven by the vision of “learning together for a better world,” Professor Stephen Lu founded the Viterbi iPodia Program at University of Southern California (USC) to develop a new online learning paradigm, called “iLearning,” for today’s increasingly connected, yet divided, world in the Internet era. Unlike eLearning that delivers courseware to distant students, iLearning supports meaningful engagements amongst learners across physical, institutional, and cultural boundaries to nurture their divergent thinking and tolerant perspectives. The goal is to cultivate a more worldly and open-minded generation who can break down the increasing social tribalism on the Internet to collaborate well with others and excel in the future society.
