Independent Pharmacy Provider Network ( IPPN )

The Independent Pharmacy Provider Network (IPPN) is an Organization for independent Pharmacies that serves communities in delivering healthcare in collaboration with healthcare Providers. Pharmacists are increasingly providing patient care services in a variety of settings spanning inpatient, outpatient/ambulatory clinics, and community pharmacies. Community pharmacists are continuing to provide services distinct from the traditional prescription dispensing function, offering patient care services such as: • immunizations, • point-of-care (POC) testing • medication therapy management (MTM) • chronic care management • transitions of care management • patient education and counseling According to NCPDP the mechanisms by which pharmacists can receive reimbursement for patient care services have advanced in recent years; however, the billing process for services remains inconsistent across systems and settings of care. Why IPPN makes a difference • Establish a formal care-team relationship between healthcare providers including Pharmacists o Establish process to receive revenue from billable health services using IPPN o Customer convenience and health equity and engagement opportunities using IPPN signage and engagement opportunities • Established technology that allows for billable encounters by care-team o Document all billable services with easy to use patient initiated technology using IPPN  Go beyond asynchronous and synchronous encounters with IPPN  Support all providers that are part of the care-team with IPPN  Increase patient care with established care planning using IPPN • Generate billable services o Document all encounters and establish the encounters for billing using IPPN o Extend billing to evaluation and management visits using IPPN encounter documentation • Reduce lost revenue o Utilize the IPPN technology and the CPA to bill for services not currently captured for billing o Extend the encounter types available as part of the IPPN care-team
