Is this a Thing?

I have about a dozen ideas a day (you too? let’s be friends) and I’m always asking myself “is this a thing?” Time and money are limited resources, so of all the ideas, is this one to take a leap on? When I mentor entrepreneurs this is also usually where our conversations lead - is their idea the right idea and how do they know? Most entrepreneurs know that they need to do user interviews, they’ve studied the lean start-up method, and they are fluent in MVPs. Awesome start, but I see holes. Entrepreneurs often fail to pause to assess their goals, including personal goals. They are usually eager to start interviewing users without a level of surgical precision on who they need to interview and what exactly they need to learn. They may be so excited about a product that they spend all of their time validating product love without validating the business viability behind the product. I found that over time, I got really good developing hyper efficient testing plans for my own ideas and helping other entrepreneurs do the same. I decided to launch Is this a Thing? to challenge myself to articulate the my methods and meet more entrepreneurial thinkers to collaborate with. Is that you? Let’s talk!
