ISCB Student Council

The Student Council (SC), part of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), aims at nurturing and assisting the next generation of computational biologists. Our membership and leadership are composed of volunteer students and post-docs in computational biology and related fields. The ISCB Student Council seeks to promote awareness, accessibility, and advancement of bioinformatics worldwide. The Student Council aims to foster public understanding of bioinformatics' crucial role in healthcare and scientific research. We champion inclusion and diversity within the bioinformatics community, ensuring all voices are heard. Through accessible educational initiatives, we enable students and professionals of all backgrounds to learn bioinformatics skills. Also, we encourage collaboration among institutions and bioinformatics experts to share knowledge and resources. By inspiring the next generation of leaders, they provide tools and mentorship to equip bioinformaticians to address global challenges, in order to offer networking and soft skill development opportunities to our members. The ISCB Student Council envisions a future where bioinformatics is valued across society for improving human lives. We also seek a community where members feel empowered to contribute, regardless of identity or geography. The Council aspires to universal bioinformatics education and global collaboration networks addressing scientific issues. We imagine inspired leaders using bioinformatics ethically to advance biology and medicine.
