Işıklar Enerji ve Yapı Holding A.Ş. was established in 1982 in Istanbul under the title of Metemteks Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and started out its operations in the trade of polyester yarns. In 1993, the company started manufacturing polyester yarns. The company was opened to Public in 2005, and the shares of the company was traded in the Istanbul stock exchange.
In line with the decision of the management for transition to an energy company by way of focusing on energy investments, the article of the articles of association related to the objectives and fields of activity of the company was amended accordingly in 2008, and within the same scope in 2010 the word “energy” is added to the company’s commercial title. And the new title of the company became Meten Enerji ve Tekstil Sanayi A.Ş.
In 2011, the dominance structure of the company was changed, and Işıklar Holding A.Ş., one of the leading industrial groups in Turkey became the dominant shareholder of the company. In 2011, the company merged with Işıklar Yapı Holding A.Ş. and Işıklar Yapı Kültürü Etkinlikleri ve Yayıncılık A.Ş. by way of transfer of shares and the capital of the company was raised to TRL 112, 031,689. As a result of this merger, 88% of the shares of Işıklar İnşaat Malzemeleri A.Ş., one of the leading manufacturers of bricks was included in the company. And within the same year, a company called Metemteks Sentetik İplik San. Ve Tic. A.Ş. was established whose total shares (100%) were held by the dominant company; and the production of yarns was left to this company.
In line with these amendments realized in the objectives and fields of activities, in the shareholders general assembly meeting held on the date of 07.02.2012 the company structure was made suitable for a Holding company, as a result of which the company title was changed into Işıklar Enerji ve Yapı Holding A.Ş.
