The International Society Of Oncology and Biomarkers (ISOBM) was founded in the early 1970s. The society was originally known as the International Society of Oncodevelopmental Biology and Medicine” (ISOBM) as the main interest of the founding members was in exploiting proteins involved in embryonic development as tumor markers. In 2010, the name of the Society was changed to the International Society Of Oncology and Biomarkers (also known as ISOBM). This change in name reflected the then broader interests of the society members, especially in the areas of cancer BiMarkers, tumor biology and novel cancer therapeutics. Currently, the ISOBM is one of premier international organizations with a broad interest in Tumor BioMarkers.
The society organizes annual or biannual meetings. These meetings focus mostly on cancer biomarkers, tumor biology and novel cancer therapeutics.
