ITMS is Sri Lanka's First Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Research & Development (R&D), Research and Conservation (R&C) and Research and Education (R&E) initiative in Marine Sciences, Non-profit.
The Scope extends to an array of marine science disciplines including Marine Biology, Oceanography, Hydrology, Hydrography, Geology, Climate Change, Marine Information Technology, Scientific Research diving etc. The efforts are taken to conduct research and apply the knowledge to development, conservation and education.

To be the supreme leader in Marine sciences,
in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary scientific research, conservation, management, development
and dissemination of knowledge related to marine and aquatic resources in Sri Lanka.
MISSION:
To provide innovative and
sustainable solutions for national and international development issues
in the field of marine and aquatic resources
by means of leadership, modern scientific knowledge, technology, and resources.
