Islamabad Universities Debate Circuit

The Islamabad Universities Debate Circuit will bring together debating societies from universities across the Islamabad/Rawalpindi and near-by cities, facilitating regular friendly matches and competitive events, primarily using the “British Parliamentary Debate Format”. It will provide an opportunity for debaters to network, build lasting connections, and broaden their horizons beyond their immediate academic environments. Furthermore, the circuit will foster a spirit of collaboration and shared learning. By organizing training sessions, we can ensure that debaters have access to resources and guidance to improve their understanding of the format and to improve their argumentation. In addition to the friendly matches and learning opportunities, the University Debate Circuit will serve as a forum to host larger-scale tournaments and events such as lectures and workshops from experienced debaters to teach niche skills. These events will provide a platform for debaters to engage with a wider audience, showcase their talents, and contribute to meaningful discussions on matters of importance. You are requested to take initiative in your universities, in the form of creating a formal debating society in your university; to get students to join and attend practice sessions. The events that will be taking place in the circuit will help you to get a better understanding of how debating works, and will help you to teach your students in your university. Our aim is to work towards maturing this circuit, in the hopes that it will in turn then cause more formalization and a proper framework through which we improve the debating standard in the city. We hope to make a name for Islamabad in the Lahori and Karachi circuit, and soon internationally.
