PVW - Professorship of Composites and Material Compounds

Welcome to the world of composite manufacturing and material compounds! The Professorship of Composites and Material Compounds (PVW) at the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering (IWW) in Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC), Germany has been at the forefront of this field for several decades. With its specialized laboratories and cutting-edge facilities, PVW has been instrumental in achieving various national and international R&D innovative projects. At PVW, our main focus is on developing high-performance composite structures and functional coatings for applications in automobiles, aircraft, and other fiber/particle reinforced composite materials. Our team has a track record of exceptional scientific publications, research project grants, and patents. We were an integral part of Germany's first Federal Cluster of Excellence in the field of lightweight construction, and also contributed significantly to the 12-year funded Collaborative Research Centre SFB 692 in the field of high-performance Aluminum-based light-weight materials. In addition to conducting world-class research, PVW also provides a scientific platform for TUC university students to conduct their research projects, research internships, and master thesis. We have a strong network of collaborations with several national and international research institutions and universities, and actively participate as well as coordinate several collaborative national and international research projects in international consortiums.
