Izabal Agro-Forest provides professional management of sustainable tropical agroforestry projects in Central America with special focus on fine-flavor cocoa interplanted with precious hardwoods, such as big-leaf mahogany and Honduran rosewood.
IAF’s research and silvicultural knowledge is based on over 25 years of experience in forest management. Since 1992, IAF has established, managed and harvested several species of tropical hardwoods in the northeastern Caribbean region of Guatemala. IAF's projects replace grazing lands with mixed used forestland landscapes, creating numerous ecosystem services.
IAF team of staff and advisors comprise agronomists, tropical foresters, local managers, financial analysts and development specialists. Our mission is to develop a financially profitable, socially responsible enterprise that takes advantage of the growing demand and increasing prices for green, sustainably-grown, certified tropical hardwoods and hierloom cacao beans.
