The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at İzmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH-MBG) was established in 1998 as one of the founding departments of the School of Science. Our mission is twofold: 1. To advance life sciences research with a focus on the molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying critical biological processes such as metabolism, mutation, transformation, immunity, development, aging, and disease. 2. To provide top-tier education and hands-on training in the molecular and genetic aspects of life sciences. Programs and Courses IZTECH-MBG offers comprehensive undergraduate (BSc) and graduate (MSc & PhD) programs. Our curriculum is enriched by a wide array of courses taught by both IZTECH-MBG faculty and interdisciplinary experts, covering the vast landscape of molecular biology and genetics. At IZTECH-MBG, innovative research is not only a cornerstone of our graduate programs but also a fundamental component of our undergraduate education. Research Opportunities Our research spans diverse fields including plant genetics, animal genetics, cancer biology, immunology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, structural biology, microbiology, biotechnology, and developmental biology.
