The IKARUS UAV Team was founded in 2017 by Samsun University Aerospace Engineering students under the name HAYSEC. After its establishment, it participated in the TEKNOFEST International Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition in 2018-2019-2020. The team qualified for the finals every year it participated. The team changed its name from HAYSEC to IKARUS in 2020. The İKARUS UAV Team has improved its staff by recruiting teammates from the Software Engineering Department in 2020. In 2021, it participated in the TEKNOFEST Free Mission Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition for the first time and made it to the final. In the final, it performed successful autonomous flight and succeeded in detecting the image of the object on the ground. IKARUS Team is preparing for 2 separate competitions for the year 2022. The first of these is the 2022 TEKNOFEST Free Duty Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition, and the other is the 2022 TEKNOFEST Combating Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition.
