J+A Philippou architects-engineers

An award-winning architectural and engineering practice with over 60 years of international experience. The practice has a strong legacy of working diligently on a case-by-case basis, as opposed to an ‘all-size-fits-all’ approach. As such, each project is a ‘tailor-made’ solution to a specific set of conditions, rather than a simple ‘run-of-the-mill’ product. In turn, this means that productive collaborations are purposely sought with all other project actors – such as, the Employer, Other Consultants and the Construction Teams. Currently the practice has approximately a total staff of about 50 qualified architects, urbanists, civil and structural engineers, designers and technicians, as well as supportive administrative personnel. The practice is based in based in Nicosia, Cyprus, and it operates from its own specially-designed studio implemented in the late 1960s in Engomi – a stone’s throw from Nicosia’s Central Business District. J+A Philippou is organised to provide professional services in all disciplines of the building industry, for projects at different scales, as well as of all sectors and genres – with varying degrees of intricacy. The obvious advantage of the practice’s set-up is the emergent set of synergies, triggered by the intimate collaboration of diverse specialists under one roof. This instigates both more extensive project coordination, as well as more intensive thinking integration. The latter is also facilitated by diligent production of information, and its associated quality control, which seeks to have an active role in the inception, development and communication of the work.
