Jailmake

Jailmake is a practice of designers and engineers with an embedded ethos of design through making. We work across all scales and typologies from our South London studio and workshop. Our work seeks to strengthen the connections between nature, people and place; incorporating traditional craft and digital technologies to solve problems, from product to city scale. We are interested in how functional and thoughtful design can address the complex challenges of the 21st century, sharing our thoughts and findings through talks, events and online. Jailmake projects range from jewellery, furniture and lighting, through to large-scale immersive environments, interior design and prototype housing. These include projects that we have initiated ourselves, as well as in collaboration with clients like Burberry, Skype, Anya Hindmarch, and Tom Dixon. Since 2011, we have exhibited our original work at London Design Festival, TENT London, Tom Dixon’s Be Open Space, The Deptford Project, Grand Designs Live, and Milan’s Salone del Mobile. Jailmake were featured as one of Chevrolet Volt’s 2012 ‘Green Innovators’ in the Huffington Post, as well appearing / designing opposite Kate Moross in the 2014 ‘Skype 5.0: Remastered for iPhone’ advertising campaign.
