Ambitions and beginningsThe Jaipur Theatre Festival was established in 2001 by 3m dot bands in the city of Jaipur. Working in the wake of vacuum of good quality theatrical activities the founders had a vision of a Festival that could enliven and enrich the cultural life of Jaipur and 'provide a platform for the flowering of the human spirit'.The Festival's founders also recognised that if the Festival succeeded in its artistic ambitions it would create add on tourism revenue for Jaipur.This founding principle that a aesthetical cultural event which brings together audiences and artists from around the different corners would also generate significant cultural social and economic benefits for Jaipur and Rajasthan.In the beginning the festival started with staging of various and continued performances of a single play and with its onset established the possibilities of dedicated audience in Jaipur for serious theatre.Gradually it took the shape of festival and in years festivals on different subject were hold. With the popularity crossing all the borders the Jaipur Thetare Festival become talk of the town and a household name in Jaipur. Popularity of festival reached not all over Rajasthan but outside the state also and nationwide feedback and feelers received.This year Jaipur Thetare Festival have christened its name as JAIRANGAM
