Passionate about fostering economic and civic participation in Canadian society among individuals and families of African and Caribbean descent. Founded in 2000, JakuKonbit is a non-profit organization based in Ottawa, Ontario, committed to empowering communities through culturally responsive programs and initiatives. Our mission is to address socioeconomic and racial disparities while promoting strength, resilience, and inclusivity. Key Programs: 1. Black Star Tutoring: Providing academic support and playing a positive role since 2009. 2. Mentorship Program: Connecting Black youth with resources and mentors for personal and professional development. 3. Black Youth Entrepreneur and Innovation (BYEI) Program: Nurturing entrepreneurial ideas into viable businesses through education and mentorship. 4. Greatness is Within Me Summer Camp: Six-week program fostering academic, athletic, and cultural growth since 2010. 5. Call Me! Let’s Chat - Senior Program: Offering a safe and supportive online space for Black seniors since 2015. 6. Provincial Youth Outreach Worker Program (PYOWP): provides culturally relevant services in Ottawa to support positive development and outcomes for Afro-Caribbean youth ages 12-21 by offering assessments.
