Established in 1978, Markaz has been a name not just of an Islamic University, but of a culture that the Muslims Community in India seems to be representing over the past three decades. As the term ‘Markaz’ itself literally denotes, it has gradually grown to become a ‘centre’ of social, cultural progress as well as educational excellence for the entire communities in India as a whole and those of Muslims in particular. It aims to nurture a generation of students with a strong sense of public responsibility, a pioneering spirit and a refreshing capacity for change. As an Islamic University with difference, Markaz aims to preserve and expand the Islamic tradition of knowledge, making it more vibrant and accessible to a large number of students across the country and to restore the intellectual legacy of the religion, with relentless attempts to bridging the gap between the so-called mainstream profane education and sacred Islamic wisdom in advanced and innovative ways. Jamia Markaz seeks to promote a culture based on value-oriented education, truly spiritual experiences, humanitarian and charitable endeavors meant to be beneficial for the entire humanity.
