Junior Achievement of Jamaica

Junior Achievement Jamaica is dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Junior Achievement programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities. Junior Achievement Jamaica is a charity and a member organization of Junior Achievement Worldwide. During the 2008/9 school year, Junior Achievement was taught as William Knibb Mermorial High School in Trelawny, Jamaica. In 2009, eight Kingston high schools were identified to experience great business engagement as students learnt. The number of students that Junior Achievement reaches every year continues to rise. Students who participate in Junior Achievement programs demonstrate a significant understanding of economics and business concepts, particularly those who participate in programs at consecutive grade levels, according to independent evaluators.
