The Maine Cancer Genomics Initiative (MCGI) is an alliance of Maine oncology providers led by The Jackson Laboratory with funding from the Harold Alfond® Foundation. Its primary goal is to reduce disparities in access to advanced technologies for cancer care and precision medicine.
MCGI brings innovative cancer genomic testing, education, and clinical trials infrastructure to one of the most rural areas in the country, in partnership with every oncology practice in the state. Initially driven by the need for greater availability of cancer genomic testing for Maine's cancer patients, MCGI has become a model for community precision oncology, or personalized cancer care, in a rural setting.
