Welcome,
Jessica’s House has a very special meaning for the South Huron community, named in honour of 22-year-old Jessica Hamather, who died in 2015 due to an extremely rare cancer. With the help of the South Huron Hospital Foundation, our community and surrounding area supporters, Jessica’s House opened its doors in 2018 in Exeter, Ontario, Canada.
Our facility is a 3-bed residence hospice that aims to have a home away from home feeling as soon as anyone comes through our front doors. Family and friends are encouraged to spend as much time as they wish with their loved one and take in the peaceful and soothing settings inside and through our beautiful gardens of Jessica’s House. It is a place where the Care Team will take charge of nursing care as well as pain and symptom management, allowing the family or caregivers to return to being a wife, husband, daughter, son, sister, mother, father, brother, friend etc., with no financial cost.
Jessica’s House also provides grief and bereavement support to residents, their families, friends and anyone else in our community that needs support. They provide these services in a one-on-one or group format at no cost to anyone.
Our mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality care for residents from the time of diagnosis through to their palliative and end-of-life journey. We do this by providing a holistic approach to care by encouraging families and residents to have autonomous, patient-centered care as we follow the palliative approach to end-of-life care.
