About Jiyoun Kim Studio™ 김지윤스튜디오
Jiyoun Kim Studio started as a personal project at 2009 and has been made into a company in June 2018 with a few young and talented designers. Its work is based on Kim’s own method Communication Centric Contextual Design, which means that an object must have contextual value based on society’s consensus.
Rather than recruiting a large team which can handle various projects fast and simultaneously, Jiyoun Kim Studio chose to arrange a small team to work closely and intensively. Every team member co-operates with Jiyoun Kim, handling wide category of works including product design, furniture design, brand development, installation design and more, from sketch through mass production process. Each designer’s expertise and ideas are freely shared and discussed to create better end products and to develop the studio further.
김지윤스튜디오는 산업디자이너 김지윤이 2009년부터 운영해오던 포트폴리오 사이트를 기반으로 발전해왔다. 제조업과 광고 산업을 고루 경험한 김지윤의 디자인 방법론인 Communication Centric Contextual Design을 바탕으로, 젊고 재능 있는 디자이너들을 모아 팀을 구성하여 2018년 6월 대한민국 서울 청담동에 사무실을 갖추고 정식으로 디자인 컨설팅 서비스 회사의 형태로 설립되었다.
적은 인원으로 운영되는 원칙을 갖는 김지윤스튜디오는 많은 프로젝트를 진행해 이윤을 추구하는 것보다 의미 있고 우리가 원하는 소수의 프로젝트를 집중적으로 진행하는 것이 더 옳다는 철학을 바탕으로 한다. 팀원들은 스튜디오가 지향하는 방향대로 Product Design, Furniture Design, Brand Development, Installation Design 등 분야를 넘나드는 여러 프로젝트들을 진행 해오고 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 각자의 다양한 경험과 아이디어를 나누고 디자인 방법론에 대한 치열한 고민을 바탕으로 스튜디오의 미래를 함께 만들어가고 있다.
