Joint Legislative Audit And Review Committee (Jlarc) company information, Employees & Contact Information

JLARC’s nonpartisan legislative staff answer the Legislature’s questions about state government performance. We offer accurate, unbiased, and credible information to help make state government more effective, efficient, and accountable. We like to say that if it happens in state government, we review it. In the past few years, we’ve evaluated tax preferences, legalized cannabis, pesticide safety, wildfires, ferry procurement, K-12 equity, Medicaid fraud, unemployment benefits, and more. Our work is nationally recognized and has won multiple awards for impact, presentation, and research methods. For our research analysts, this means a lot of collaborative work with other smart, creative, and engaged professionals. We’re a small office with about 30 staff. Our backgrounds include demography, public policy, history, social sciences, and more. The Legislative Auditor leads the JLARC staff office. We report to the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee, which has an equal number of members from the House and Senate, evenly split between the parties.
