Joarla Caridad grew up surrounded by amber fossils and larimar stones, with parents dedicated to creating handcrafted jewelry and committed to promoting the value of these gemstones. From an early age, she developed a strong inclination toward art and design, which led her to study Fine Arts and Illustration at Chavón, The School of Design. In 2017, during a jewelry course in Changsha, China, she discovered that through jewelry design, she could achieve what she had always sought to do with her paintings: tell stories.
In 2019, Joarla graduated in Jewelry Design from Central Saint Martins in London and returned to Santo Domingo, where she continues to carry forward her family’s legacy. In 2016, she founded JOARLA, a contemporary jewelry brand based in the Dominican Republic. Her work has transcended borders, being featured in international media such as The New York Times and CBS Saturday Morning, establishing JOARLA as one of the freshest and most authentic contemporary jewelry brands.
