JoatU is an online marketplace that rewards community projects,
promotes altruism, and helps build local communities. JoatU transactions are facilitated by Community Action Points (CAPS), an online barter token that can be traded with other members for goods and services. The physical exchanges happen in approved local spaces called Community Hubs.
JoatU’s mission is to make it easier to integrate into your neighborhood and local community by providing a free hyperlocal classifieds, displaying offers and requests, and by creating easily accessible volunteering opportunities happening within a twenty-minute walk of your home. Community members vote to determine which proposed community projects are rewarded with CAPS. This leads to a clear democratic process for determining a local community’s needs, and acts as a way to inspire personal and civic responsibility while simultaneously improving the quality of neighborhood life.
