In 2020, Community Inclusion Society took over the management of the centre, which has been meeting the employment needs of citizens of West Hants since 1994, formerly under the management of Avon Region Community Development Association. 2016, the centre increased its service offerings to include services for area employers in relation to their hiring and retention needs as well as increasing the level of services for diverse communities including persons with disabilities, African Nova Scotians and persons of African descent, Indigenous, new Canadians and youth. Additional services include job development, pre and post employment support and funding for short skills development, workplace supports and equipment as disability related assessments and equipment. Each year over 8,000 visits are made by job seekers and entrepreneurs, resulting in an average of 250 jobs found and 35 businesses started per year. Determine your needs and develop solutions to meet your employment goals with a personal "Return to Work Action Plan." Provide one on one support from trained employment consultants and coordinators. Assist with résumés, cover letters and personal marketing packages. Identify job opportunities and openings. Provide local labour market information - what are the trends? Explore the possibilities of educational upgrading and skill enhancement. Referral to government funded employment programs. Help with research and apply for jobs online. Offer employment related workshops, such as use of technology for the job search, interviewing skills and the hidden job market. Provide printing, photocopying and faxing services.
