About Joeys Alumni
We are in contact with around 2,500 people, who attended Joeys (for any period up to and including Leaving Cert). Our Union provides great opportunities to communicate with people we grew up with for reminiscence, social events, sport, to touch base on real life issues or to talk about careers / business. Our committee and active supporters come from varied business backgrounds and are focused on delivery of tangible results from scarce resources. Our president is an experienced business development professional, who graduated from Leeds Beckett University and Dublin Business School. Other Committee officers have demonstrable skills and experience at senior management levels in various industries and management disciplines, including clean energy, IT, marketing, health services, financial management, banking, internal audit, motor trade, property & curriculum development. Experience, discussions with fellow past pupils and research provided by our professional advisors show that our most important activities are those providing the opportunity to meet up, talk about what is happening in their lives (career, business and / or otherwise), remember past events and have a bit of craic. Over the past few years, we have been and continue building the enablers - our website, CRM (database for emails, etc.), Facebook and LinkedIn Pages and several WhatsApp Groups for individual LC Years plus a North American Chapter. We have a well-established Annual Dinner date, Golf Outing and have started our Business Networking Breakfast. To make our union more relevant to members' day to day lives, we are now looking at more ways of bringing people together, e.g. events centred around relevant business / career issues, school visits, etc. with interesting speakers to enlighten the attendance about matters of interest to them. Committee members are reaching out to other past pupil's unions and our own past pupils for practical ideas and for help in bringing such events to reality.
