Johari is an independent charitable organisation set-up to provide relevant help and support to vulnerable children, young adults and their communities in Kenya. We combine immediate practical support such as education, life-skills, counselling and food assistance with longer term economic opportunities and have social enterprise, micro credit and tertiary education projects.
Our Miale Social Development Projects are run by people who are local and understand the issues affecting the communities in which they work. Our Social Enterprise, Johari Designs is run by Johari and produces ethical fashion, inspired by Africa with all products being handmade in Kenya by out team of Artisans.
Johari Designs was established in 2008 to help vulnerable young adults build a living for themselves and their families by providing them with life enhancing skills. All employees have been through the Miale Apprenticeship Project which delivers an 18 month course in tailoring, material sourcing, jewellery making and business skills.
100% of all profit made through sales of Johari clothing and accessories helps to fund the Miale Social Development Projects.
