The original John Roberts founded the business in 1880 when he converted an old cotton mill into a paper making facility. Paper making activities were enhanced by paper conversion in 1939 and subsequently by corrugating in 1965. In 2002 the paper conversion and corrugating facilities were consolidated onto the current extended site when our purpose built paper conversion factory was added. Over the years the business has continued to invest in enhancements to its facilities and machinery to provide the breadth of products and the cost effective, flexible service which our customers value.
We are a key employer within the local community and the business continues to benefit from the depth of experience our people bring to it. This loyalty provides a high level of continuity and knowledge which characterises our values and approach to our customers.
We remain to this day a private, independent business which offers a unique combination of both corrugated and converted paper products in the UK. We believe that, together with our flexible and friendly approach to doing business, this represents a value offer for all our customers.
With todays emphasis on moving away from Plastic based packaging, we sit in a unique position in the UK market by offering a wide product range of 100% recycled, and recyclable, materials. We manufacture many products to replace oil based, non-renewable or recyclable, items with papers, such as Embossed Rolls, that are suitable for product cushioning without “costing the earth”
We have recently added Block Bottom bags to our product portfolio with the acquisition of two bag machines and we are the only UK manufacturer of the unique “Rose Shaped” Block Bottom bag.
