The Equity Network

The mission of The Equity Network is to close the “Network Gap”: the reality that career progression is tied closely to “who you know”, yet not all networks are created equal, and oftentimes disadvantage communities of color. We believe that two professionals with the same talent should have the same access to career opportunities. To achieve this mission, we are creating a 3-sided platform connecting Black, Latinx, and Native American college students and recent graduates (“advisees”) with professionals keen to pay it forward (“advisors”) and (eventually) employers committed to diverse hiring. Our core product offering is a Netflix-style Advisor Directory from which advisees can browse relevant profiles and request to book virtual coffee chats. Supplementing this directory, advisees will have access to targeted employer panels, networking events, job postings, and resources that help to demystify the networking process. In the short-term, we aim to increase the size and scope of advisees’ networks. In the long-term, we aim to partner with employers to surface diverse, qualified talent as a means to increase representation of traditionally underrepresented groups in corporate America.
