This can often make it harder to enjoy the things we love to do… even watching a movie or playing a game can get increasingly frustrating for many of us as we age. This leads most of us to be less active and engaged as we get older, which often starts a negative cycle of less socialization, less exercise, less mental stimulation, and less structured sleep. But scientific studies show that being mentally, physically, and socially engaged helps our brains stay sharp and helps us fight off cognitive decline, and can even improve our memory and brain function. And getting great deep and REM sleep helps our brains heal and rejuvenate daily. The more we stay interested, engaged, and structured the healthier our brains stay… so the last thing we should do is avoid activities and engagement!
