About J.P. Roos Vegetables
JP Roos Vegetables was incorporated in Botswana, founded by a young Motswana farmer in 2009 to reduce Botswana's dependence on imports for supply of horticulture products. We are simply a primary producer of potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, carrots and butternuts, our entire produce is sold to the local market - 90% to retailers while 10% is sold to tradesman whom 85% are women. Founded by Jan Pierre Roos, popularly known as "JP", JP Roos Vegetables started operations with only 6 hectares of land under management, the business would later on expand to now own and manage over 10,000 hectares across 4 farms. We currently employ on a full-time basis over 300 Botswana citizens and 65% are women and youth. All our processes from agronomy activities and farming practices, value addition and operational systems are fully automated in order to deliver a high standard in efficiency and quality of products and service. The JP Roos Vegetables brand is a country wide known brand as we pack all our produce in own branded packaging material, thus promoting local production of food. As part of our phase 2 expansion plan we are implementing a complete sustainable farming model with a view to become a sustainable producer of food and to achieve that we have adopted the SDGs in mapping our growth strategies, our farming practices and operational systems will prioritise the Earth, People and the Economy.
