JUMP Stress is a student-led initiative dedicated to addressing mental health challenges faced by teenagers in Uganda. Founded by Linus Seruma, Jamila Kariisa ,Joshua Samuels, and Ethan Maggio, our program aims to provide structured support and effective coping mechanisms for stress management.
Mission:
Our mission is to create a supportive community where teenagers can openly discuss mental health issues, access resources, and develop strategies to manage stress. We believe in the power of collaboration and education to foster resilience and improve mental well-being.
Our Work:
Mental Health Workshops: Conducting workshops and seminars in schools to educate students on mental health awareness and stress management techniques.
Support Groups: Facilitating peer support groups to provide a safe space for teenagers to share their experiences and support each other.
Resource Development: Creating and distributing educational materials, including brochures, guides, and online content, to raise awareness about mental health.
Community Engagement: Partnering with local organizations and mental health professionals to expand our reach and impact.
Our Story:
JUMP Stress was born out of a shared passion for mental health and community well-being. Each founder brings a unique perspective and personal motivation to the cause. Linus's connection to Uganda, Ethan's personal experience with the loss of a loved one to suicide, Jamila's background in media and community outreach , and Joshua's expertise in neuroscience and psychology all contribute to the program's foundation and vision.
Impact:
Since its inception, JUMP Stress has reached hundreds of teenagers, providing them with the tools and support needed to navigate mental health challenges. Our efforts have been recognized for their innovative approach and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
