Whatever age your children may be, they should be able to be in charge of some tasks in the home! Life is about teamwork and that starts as soon as they can walk and talk!
The Junior Duke is an Award with ten levels of challenges leading children aged around 3 to 13 (and their families) to discover new experiences and to gently push them out of their comfort zones.
They will learn new skills, develop soft skills and executive function, learn to cook, shop/budget, risk assess, trip plan, craft, tidy and clean and a whole lot more as they progress through the >130 challenges offered throughout the Award. They will learn to take responsibility as they grow and develop a strong sense of self-worth and well-being.
It is fun for all of the family and it is great to see how much children grow in independence, confidence and resilience and feel a sense of pride and achievement whatever their academic level.
The Award works as well for those who find the academics difficult as for our world's High Performance Learners. It works particularly well when run in a whole school setting but is also a great nudge to parents to know what their child could be capable of at each age.
